48th Club Newsletter September 2009 (incorporating the 58th Under 11 Newsletter)

Under 11 Cheshire League Champions 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 & Womens Cheshire League Champions 2006

Apologies for the lack of newsletters and updates on the website over the last couple of months. As many of you know I have moved house and as a result changed internet service provider which has meant that I have been unable to update the old website. For the time being that site still appears on the web however the Club has taken the decision that the web site is an essential form of communication for our members and hence we have a new site and our own domain name - salfordmets.co.uk

We have had a busy couple of months at the club, having organised all 3 of our school cross country races. The results of the first race are now on the site and the remaining results will be added once the results are passed to me.

We also held a very successful Annual Presentation & Disco where our successful athletes collected their trophies. Amongst these was this years Under 11 Sports Personality of the Year awarded to James Axon. His photograph collecting his trophy is the Photograph of the Month on our home page.

As most of you will have realised by now I have taken the decision to restrict my involvement in the club as I am no longer living local, however, I do not want to break all ties with the Club and hence will still look after the Club Records and the Website. In addition I have said I will try and do the odd training session if there is a shortage of coaches on a particular evening, so hopefully I will still see everyone from time to time. The Under Elevens will not be loosing out as Tony, Scott and Eddie will take this age group forward in future and will I am sure bring yet more success to Salford Mets.

On the evening the Club and the parents both made presentations to me which was a very pleasant surprise and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for giving me such a fabulous send off. I will miss you all.

Over the next few months I am hoping to make improvements to the web site so keep looking and see if you can find all the improvements as they occur. The new web site is your web site and hence I am looking for as many contributions as possible. We now have more web space so I am hoping to add more photographs than in the past so please send any you take and I will try and add. One request though - when sending can you please try and reduce the file size before sending.

Finally for this month, please save the new website to your favourites and delete any reference to the old site. In addition when visiting our site it is always best to look at the Whats New page as this lists all the recent changes made to the site.
