43nd Club Newsletter May 2009 (incorporating the 53rd Under 11 Newsletter)
Under 11 Cheshire League Champions 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 & Womens Cheshire League Champions 2006
Since the last newsletter our athletes have competed in a North of England League meeting with several Club Records were broken. See
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.hallam3/SMAC.htm for results and Club Records broken. We also hosted the 1st round of the YAL League on Sunday 17th May. Unfortunately the conditions left a lot to be desired with the amount of time it was raining outwaying the time we had glorious sunshine. In such conditions one would not expect Club Records to be broken however our athletes are showing excellent early season form and records were both equalled and broken. The highlight of the day for many was the Under 13 girls 1200m race which saw Hollie Barnes and Lucy Whittaker way out in front battling against each other. In the end Hollie’s greater strength told and she won and in the process desimated the existing Club Record.
Full results will appear shortly. Find results when published at
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.hallam3/YAL091.htmTaking into consideration that we were competing against some very strong clubs it probably came as a bit of a surprise to all attending to discover that Salford finished the day winning the event, which really is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all athletes and coaches. Finally thanks to the many helpers on the day. Without their help the meeting would never have taken place.
Our younger and older athletes were not eligible to compete at the YAL so some tried their hand at the Greater Manchester Run (2.5k for 9-14 year olds and 10k for older athletes). All came home with credible performances as detailed below, however special mention needs to go to Thomas Wiseman who at the age of 10 came 3rd in the Junior Boys race with a time of 8.29 mins. This is an absolutely fantastic performance. I should also mention that Sam Tattum finished 24th in 9.06 mins.
Thomas Wiseman 8.29 mins, Sam Tattum 9.04 mins, Charlie Clarke 10.16 mins, Chloe Tattum 13.16 mins.
Carolyn Lewtas 47.30 mins, Rhea Palmer 49.53 mins, Michelle Nuttall 56.32 mins, Carolyn Jones 63.25 mins, Tracey Jones 63.25 mins, Alex Jones 73.34 mins.
Paul Connolly 38.03 mins, Shane Wolstencroft 39.55 mins, Gordon Johnston 40.58 mins, Stuart Mairs 44.54 mins, Michael Evans 46.43 mins, Eddie Kilfoyle 48.21 mins, Michael Garside 52.33 mins.
Our older athletes have Young Athletes League commitments on 31 May and 21 June and finally 19 July. We need a lot of athletes for these meetings and hence if you can compete please see Mike Lucas (females) or Debbie Hulme (males). Debbie in particular is keen to increase the number of athletes she has available.
The next Cheshire League meeting will be held at Crewe on 12 July. Full directions will appear on the next newsletter but for those interested in seeing where the track is please use the attached link to see a map. The Under 11 team will be announced in early June.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.hallam3/maps.htmIf there are any other Under 11’s who wish to compete please see Peter, Tony, Scott or Eddie. Please note that you must currently be in Year 4 or 5 to be eligible to compete.
